Blackfeet Nation receives $200,000 federal grant to track elk movement

Blackfeet Nation has received a federal grant to track elk movement and migration patterns on the tribe’s reservation in northern Montana.
The $200,000 grant from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will support the tribe’s efforts to study migration routes, habitat use and potential barriers to elk movement on the reservation.
Increased human activity has affected migration behavior and travel routes, resulting in habitat loss, over-exploitation and climate change.
